The "Spontaneous Uprising" of February 2011

February 18, 2012

There's plenty of evidence of some kind of pre-planning for the protest/insurgency that started just over one year ago. The question is, how far back and among whom does the evidence suggest these plans originate?

I'll start it with a recent comment from Petri:
---
Two interesting discussion on Twitter between Green Resistance @GreLYeN and papiliono24 @papiliono24: Green Resistance @GreLYeN: @papiliono24 Stupidly fabricated story! how about armed gangs since FEB 14, & Suicide Mombers ? papiliono24

@papiliono24@GreLYeN what happened on Feb 14? I'm only aware of Feb 15 onwards...
Green Resistance @GreLYeN: @papiliono24 ok the US embassy in Libya called US citizens in Libya on the 9th, for a meeting to be held on the 15th of FEB @papiliono24 here is part of it: This Warden Message is to announce a town hall meeting for American citizens. 1/2 @papiliono24 US Embassy invites American citizens living in Libya to a town hall meeting @ the US School of Tripoli on Tue, Feb15 at 5:30 pm @papiliono24 and on the 13th an email was broadcasted from Libya17feb@yahoo.com with instructions on what to do in each city, @papiliono24 That email contained the gathering places, where to put road blocks, and even instructions to control the border with Egypt @papiliono24 There was a PDF attachment with all these details, I have a copy @papiliono24 on 15th : "U.S. Embassy Tripoli Warden Message - Possible Demonstrations on Feb 17 & 18" warning Americans on Feb 15, 2011 All the US Embassy messages are available here: MESSAGES FOR U.S. CITIZENS – Recent Messages The February 9, 2011 message is here: U.S. Embassy Tripoli Warden Message - American Citizen Town Hall Meeting
---
I didn't notice the Feb. 14 part being explained, other than suggesting an e-mail of the 13th should lead to action by the next day. But it was violent by the following evening, that much at least is clear.

    Understanding the Libyan uprising
published 22 February 2011 by the Quilliam Foundation states the following:

Nb. The briefing paper was written with the help of the former Libyan Islamic Fighting Group leader Noman Benotman, a senior analyst at Quilliam, who arrived back in London yesterday after spending two weeks in Tripoli, Libya.

It is interesting to note, that also Ali Tarhouni was staying in Egypt at the time of the Feb 17 protests.

    1. Strange story here...from March 2011.British schoolgirl who fled Libya returns to UK to find Gaddafi's forces have killed father who flew out to rescue her

If I understand it correctly, father and daughter travel to Libya in Jan 2011 to visit the girl's grandmother, location unspecified, but perhaps Tripoli. After two weeks, father leaves daughter in Libya, location unspecified and returns to Manchester.
Daughter Fatima "was preparing to come home when the uprising against Gaddafi broke out on February 17...For two weeks they would start shooting at 7pm and we would go to sleep to the sound of gunfire. It was a war zone. I had never even heard a gun before.’

As the violence grew, Mr Taghdi rushed back to Libya to try to rescue Fatima.....He flew via Tunisia and Egypt before being allowed over the border and reaching the rebel city of Benghazi.

Fatima said: ‘My father called from Benghazi and said he was going to try to come and get me. I never spoke to him again after that.’

Mr Taghdi travelled west and reached the oil port of Brega, where he was killed in fighting on March 1.

Meanwhile, his family decided to risk driving Fatima through Tripoli to get her on a Canadian Air Force flight evacuating foreigners from the capital.

Accompanied by her uncle Mustafa, who is a Canadian citizen, they drove past tanks and through checkpoints manned by armed guards to reach the airport.

The story was elaborated in June for Channel 4 by a son.
"Khaled Taghdi went to rescue his daughter Fatima from Tripoli. On the way, he was staying in a rebel town, when it was bombed.

"He had some friends in Benghazi so he stayed with them for a while and then he was making his way to Tripoli, and Gaddafi's military attacked the place were he was and he got killed," said Ahmed Taghdi"

    5. Thanks , H.
RT: "For the UK, which looks to be one of the major players in the operation, it looks like an excellent business, too. The estimates vary as to how much the war in Libya cost the UK – something about $500 million – but the sum of the contracts are already known and they exceed the expenditures by far.

With hundreds of billions dollars in contracts up for grabs, Libya’s bombardment looks like an excellent investment from any perspective. With the exception of those who count in the moral cost of thousands of Libyans killed in the bloody civil war with NATO’s direct support.

  3. The Western media ridiculed Gaddafi when he said the "peaceful protesters" were al-Qaeda terrorists on drugs. We all know the al-Qaeda part was true, but I have been wondering about the drug claim. This may help explain it:

    From Wikipedia article Fenethylline:
Abuse of fenethylline as the brand Captagon is most common in Arab countries, and counterfeit versions of the legal drug continue to be available despite now being illegal for 20 years. Many of these counterfeit "Captagon" tablets actually contain other amphetamine derivatives that are easier to produce, but are pressed and stamped to look like Captagon pills. Some Captagon pills analyzed do contain fenethylline however, indicating that illicit production of this drug continues to take place.

Also: Fenethylline was invented by Degussa AG in 1961 and used for around 25 years as a milder alternative to amphetamines.

Amphetamine was used during WWII in combat situations. Fenethylline most likely has similar effects.

This video was posted on YouTube yesterday by SyriaTruthNetworkEN:
Syria - Authorities seize 38,000 Captagon Pills in Raqqa 06-03-2012
Authorities seized on Tuesday 38.000 smuggled captagon pills in a car in Raqqa city.

A source told SANA reporter that the authorities checked the car and arrested 3 people after they tried to run away with 19 bags each contains 2000 captagon pills as they were trying to distribute them, while 3 others fled.

The source added that the quantity of captagon pills, estimated at SYP 10 millions, was seized as interrogation with the arrested people is continuing.
    http://www.sana.sy/eng/21/2012/03/06/404595.htm

The YouTube account – SyriaTruthNetworkEN – mainly posts videos of terrorists and rebels in Syria. Could this narcotics bust be related to terrorist activities?

Putting 1 + 1 together, I believe Gaddafi was referring to "Captagon" use by rebels and terrorist in Libya.

The new chief of the higher security committee in Derna, Colonel Mohammed Al-Hassi, was assassinated this afternoon when unknown assailants shot him outside a petrol station in the town. He died before arriving at the hospital.
Al-Hassi was one of the investigators into Derna’s Annour and Abu Slim Martyrs brigades. He had previously survived from two earlier assassinations attempts in one of which one of his legs was injured.
He was also the head of Derna’s department for fighting drugs, was highly respected locally, and worked hard to track drugs dealers during and before the revolution.

  4. Al-Jazeera was conceived by two French-Israeli personalities, the David and Jean Frydman brothers, after the assassination of their friend Yitzhak Rabin

For the creation of the chain, the Frydman brothers benefited from a combination of circumstances: the Orbit Saudi company had reached an agreement with the BBC to set up a news broadcast in Arabic

The agreement was terminated and the majority of Arabic BBC journalists found themselves out on the street. They were then recruited to launch Al-Jazeera.

They managed to enlist the new emir of Qatar, Hamid bin Khalifa al-Thani, who with the help of London and Washington had just overthrown his father, accused of pro-Iranian sentiments

In 2004-05, after the death of David Frydman, the Emir decided to overhaul Al-Jazeera completely and create new channels, including Al-Jazeera English

    JTrack
Sheikh Hamad bin-Khalifa called on an international firm that had already provided him with personal training in communication skills.

JTrack had especially targeted Arab and Southeast Asian leaders to train them in the language of Davos: how to project an image that the West wants to see. From Morocco to Singapore, JTrack has trained most of the political leaders backed by the United States and Israel, often mere heredity puppets, turning them into respectable media personalities.
The important thing is not whether they have something to say, but their aptness to impart the globalized rhetoric.

    http://www.voltairenet.org/local/cache-vignettes/L220xH294/J-77107-fee74.jpg
Nevertheless, it wasn’t until the Libyan episode that the masks started to fall.
In fact, the boss of JTrack and mentor of Wadah Kanfhar is none other than Mahmoud Jibril (the “J” in “JTrack” stands for “Jibril”).

Mr. Jibril joined the Muslim Brotherhood. It was in this capacity that he placed his coreligionists, Brothers Wadah Kanfhar and Yusuf al-Qaradawi, in Al-Jazeera ..

In addition, Mr. Jibril created trading companies, including one dealing with Malaysian and Australian timber in partnership with his French friend, Bernard-Henri Levy.

BENGHAZI, Libya, Feb 17, 2012 (IPS) - With the June deadline for congressional elections approaching, Libyans previously in exile are returning home to take part in the construction of a new political landscape. Political churning is well under way as Libya marks the first anniversary of the ouster of the Muammar Gaddafi regime Friday.

Since the early 1980s, opposition figures and groups, based largely in the United States and Europe, launched both military and media campaigns against the regime of Muammar Gaddafi.
Now with the dictator dead and an opportunity to create a new country from scratch, they are transforming into political entities to complement and sometimes contest the actions of the National Transitional Council (NTC) that is leading the transition to a democratic system.

Regardless of the military successes of the campaign – helping depose Qadhafi at little civilian cost – Libya provides little in the way of a widely applicable model. It is important to bear this in mind as the unfolding crisis in Syria rumbles on, or new ones develop.

  16. Amnesty International initially reported that writers, intellectuals and other prominent opposition sympathizers disappeared during the early days of the conflict in Gaddafi-controlled cities, and that they may have been subjected to torture or execution.[166]

Amnesty International also reported that security forces targeted paramedics helping injured protesters.[168]

    In multiple incidents, Gaddafi's forces were documented using ambulances in their attacks.[169][170];

Injured demonstrators were sometimes denied access to hospitals and ambulance transport. The government also banned giving blood transfusions to people who had taken part in the demonstrations.[171]

Security forces, including members of Gaddafi's Revolutionary Committees, stormed hospitals and removed the dead.

Injured protesters were either summarily executed or had their oxygen masks, IV drips, and wires connected to the monitors removed.

The dead and injured were piled into vehicles and taken away, possibly for cremation.[172][173]

Doctors were prevented from documenting the numbers of dead and wounded, but an orderly in a Tripoli hospital morgue estimated to the BBC that 600–700 protesters were killed in Green Square in Tripoli on 20 February.

The orderly claimed that ambulances brought in three or four corpses at a time, and that after the ice lockers were filled to capacity, bodies were placed on stretchers or the floor, and that "it was in the same at the other hospitals".[172]

    1. March 26, 2012: Air operations in Libya made it clear that European made missiles and smart bombs were every bit as good as the American stuff.

As a result, the major European arms manufacturers (mainly BAE, EADS, and Finmeccanica) suddenly have billions of dollars in new orders.

While some of this business comes from existing customers replacing all the missiles and bombs they used in Libya, a lot of new customers have shown up. These European weapons are now "battle tested" in a highly publicized and successful operation. Many countries are glad to see credible competition for American weapons. Competition means the buyer can negotiate a better deal.

The air campaign over Libya also demonstrated that one European missile, the Brimstone, was unique and superior to anything the U.S. had. Brimstone also demonstrated, once more, that smaller is often better.
The Brimstone radar seeker makes it easier to use the missile in "fire and forget" mode. The laser seeker is more accurate (to within a meter or two of the aim point.) When used on jet fighters, like the Tornado, there is a special launcher that holds three Brimstone missiles (instead of one larger missile). The launcher hangs from one of the Tornado hardpoints. This launcher will also be used on the new Eurofighter

  17. At the beginning of the Libyan uprising, in February 2011, news reports alleged that the Libyan air force was bombing protestors. This formed the basis of the claim that NATO needed to intervene to protect civilians, specifically by imposing a no-fly zone. However, in a press conference at the Pentagon on 1 March 2011, the US Defense Secretary, Bill Gates, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, both said that there was no evidence to support these claims. Question: Do you see any evidence that he has actually fired on his own people from the air? There were reports of it, but do you have independent confirmation? If so, to what extent?

Secretary Gates: We’ve seen the press reports but we have no confirmation of that.

Admiral Mullen: That’s correct. We’ve seen no confirmation whatsoever.

    1. A number of proposals were put forward.

The International Crisis Group, for instance, where I worked at the time, published a statement on 10 March
arguing for a two-point initiative: (i) the formation of a contact group or committee drawn from Libya’s North African neighbours and other African states with a mandate to broker an immediate ceasefire; (ii) negotiations between the protagonists to be initiated by the contact group and aimed at replacing the current regime with a more accountable, representative and law-abiding government.

This proposal was echoed by the African Union and was consistent with the views of many major non-African states – Russia, China, Brazil and India,

The imposition of a no-fly zone would be an act of war:

as the US defense secretary, Robert Gates,
      told Congress on 2 March,
it required the disabling of Libya’s air defences as an indispensable preliminary.

In authorising this and ‘all necessary measures’, the Security Council was choosing war when no other policy had even been tried.

It could then be turned into a No-Drive-Zone, then into an all out war and ultimately into a "bootless" occupation from the air. The lies that were put out by the Human Rights scam groups were specifically tailored to act as a motivation for a no-fly-zone, flying in mercenaries from Black Africa or "killing his own people" from the air.

Ali Tumkaya, a human resources manager, said militias raided the Benghazi airport.

He saw vans with more than 20 dead bodies, who Tumkaya said were paid soldiers from sub-Saharan Africa.

Another Turkish evacuee, Serdar Taskin, who worked for Mammar Arabia company in Benghazi, said he saw bodies hanging from electricity poles.

He did not know if they were protesters or Gaddafi supporters.

Tue, 2011-02-22 , 1:19 pm Navi Pillay, the UN human rights chief also called for an independent, international investigation into the killings that have wracked the country for days : "immediate cessation of grave human rights violations committed by Libyan authorities".

Tue, 2011-02-22 , 3.50pm Mona Rishmawi, legal adviser to UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, told Al Jazeera they were extrememly concerned by allegations of the use of "hired guns" against civillian protesters in Libya.
She said intergovernmental bodies must show a united front and send a clear message that what is going on in Libya must stop right now.

In March, 1985, Turbi, founded Libyan Human Rights Commission.

The Commission gained prominence when it delivered the 1st ever, intervention speech in the history of the UN Human Rights Committee at its Conference in Geneva, Switzerland in February, 1989 on Libyan government human rights violations.

The Commission also participated at the World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna in June 1993.

The Libyan Human Rights Commission helped hundreds of Libyans secure political asylum in Western Europe throughout the nineties.

The year 1999 marked a turning point in Libyan history.
The Libyan exiled community, and members of the opposition reached a level of hopelessness, and helplessness in trying to overthrow the dictatorship, and affecting democratic changes in Libya.
It became apparent to Turbi, and many Libyan exiles then that the only path for improving the lives of the Libyan people is working on change on the inside of Libya.

Towards that end, Turbi began to promote constructive engagement between the U.S government and the Libyan regime.

His efforts paved the way for the release of 413 political prisoners in 2001, and the safe entry by thousands of opponents to the Libyan regime into Libya for the next seven years.

His efforts paved the way for the release of 413 political prisoners in 2001, and the safe entry by thousands of opponents to the Libyan regime into Libya for the next seven years.:

In March 2010, due to the intervention of Tony Blair,
Saif Qaddafi (Muammar’s son) announced the release of Belhadj and 233 other members of the LIFG from Abu Selim as part of a reconciliation of the Qaddafi government with the LIFG and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The mediator in this effort, which began in 2005, was the Libyan, Muslim Brotherhood-linked, Qatari-based cleric Ali al-Sallabi.
Less than a year after they were released, Belhadj and the other members of the LIFG became the core of the opposition to Qaddafi. According to the Wall Street Journal, bin Qumu began training jihadists in Derna in April of 2011.

According to a Dec. 5, 2012 New York Times article, in the Spring of 2011 President Obama approved the provision of weapons by Qatar and the U.A.E. to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, led by Abdel Hakim Belhadj.

According to a Wall Street Journal article on Oct. 17, 2011, 20,000 tons of weapons were provided not to the Transitional National Council, but directly to militias run by Belhadj in 18 shipments.

A dozen other Qatari-funded shipments came to Libyan rebels allied with the LIFG via Sudan.

The shipments continued in September even after the fall of Tripoli.

According to the New York Times article Obama insisted that the weapons not be weapons produced in the U.S., so that they would not be traceable to the U.S.

According to the New York Times, these weapons are now being shipped to Al-Qaeda in Syria and Mali.

Such attacks were recorded in Benghazi, Derna, Tobruk, al-Bayda, and al-Zawiya, among other places.

In Derna, according to the testimony of pro-rebellion “activist” Amer Saad, Qaddafi loyalist forces were locked in the holding cells of a local police station, and the building was set ablaze.

Ashour Shamis, a London-based Libyan journalist, said protesters had stormed the city's Kuwafiyah prison and freed dozens of political prisoners.
Escapees set fire to the prosecutor's office, a bank and a police station.
The pictures, given to al-Jazeera TV, recorded streets empty of police or army units.

Amer Saad, a political activist from Derna, told al-Jazeera: "The protesters in al-Bayda have been able to seize control of the military airbase in the city and have executed 50 African mercenaries and two Libyan conspirators. Even in Derna today, a number of conspirators were executed. They were locked up in the holding cells of a police station because they resisted, and some died burning inside the building.

  25. the violence of the “protests” is hardly surprising, given what we now know about the involvement of the al-Qaeda-linked Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) in the rebellion.

At least three al-Qaeda-linked militantswho had at one time or another been in U.S. custody played leading roles in the anti-Qaddafi uprising.

Following the fall of Tripoli, one of them, the historical leader of the LIFG Abdul-Hakim Belhadj, would emerge as the military governor of the Libyan capital. (In Western media, Belhadj is frequently confused with Abdul-Hakim al-Hasadi. Al-Hasadi is a different al-Qaeda-linked militant who played a leading role in the early stages of the rebellion in eastern Libya.)

  26. there was nothing spontaneous about the violence.
The plan[destabilizing the Qaddafi regime ] was discovered on a CD seized by British police during an October 2005 raid of the home of a Libyan political refugee in Birmingham

Moreover, little-known evidence cited in a British court case indicates that there was nothing spontaneous about the violence.

By the middle of the last decade, the LIFG had in fact elaborated a plan for destabilizing the Qaddafi regime by using many of the same tactics that would be employed at the outset of the rebellion in February 2011.

The plan was discovered on a CD seized by British police during an October 2005 raid of the home of a Libyan political refugee in Birmingham.
In a 2009 British court ruling, the man is merely identified by the initials “AV.” (See Secretary of State for the Home Department v. AV, April 30, 2009.)
These and other biographical details make clear that “AV” is Abd Al-Rahman al-Faqih.

According to both the British ruling and information collected by the U.N. Security Council, al-Faqih/“AV” was convicted in absentia by a Moroccan court for complicity in the May 2003 suicide bombings in Casablanca that took the lives of more than 30 civilians and injured many more.

  27. The author of the plan discovered on al-Faqih’s CD was LIFG chief ideologue Abu al-Munthir, a.k.a. Sami al-Saadi.
Like LIFG leader Belhadj, al-Munthir/al-Saadi was transferred to Libyan custody in 2004 after having been reportedly detained by American intelligence in Southeast Asia.
A certain Abu Munthir has, incidentally, been cited in British court proceedings as an al-Qaeda operative who encouraged young Muslims in Great Britain to conduct terror attacks at home following the invasion of Afghanistan.

Libyan government communications with Western intelligence services, which were discovered following the fall of Tripoli, suggest that the Abu Munthir in question was none other than al-Saadi. (For reproductions of the documents, see here.)

HRW , Amnesty : a cosy relationship with US and western allies

In Libya, Western funded non-governmental organizations brought a lot attention to the bloodshed ex-leader Mommar Gaddaffi was imposing on his people. The information gathered was used to justify an attack on Gaddafi and his government, but after his death reports have shown the information that was used to lead the attacks was incorrect.

Ali Tumkaya, the human resources manager for Turkey's Sembol company, which was building a university in Benghazi, said militias raided the Benghazi airport. He saw vans with more than 20 dead bodies, who, Mr Tumkaya said, appeared to be mercenaries from sub-Saharan Africa.

Another Turkish evacuee saw dead men hanging in the street.
Serdar Taskin, who worked for the Mammar Arabia company in Benghazi, told the AP in Marmaris: "Our construction site was burned down.
The looters came. There were a few men hanging from poles, electric poles,". He did not know if the dead were protesters supporters of Colonel Qaddafi.

A video carried by one of the evacuees showed a red car with people inside that had apparently been crushed by a tank.

George Suchomel, a Canadian from Collingwood, Ontario, gave The Associated Press the video, which he said was given to him by militiamen in Benghazi to smuggle out.
Mr Suchomel, who works for the German construction company Arcadis, said his company's offices and lodgings in Benghazi were raided and cars and electronic equipment were looted

They are rumored to number 20,000, no one knows exactly how many but they do seem to be a lot of them out on the streets in Tripoli yet nowhere else in Libya.

  34. Before, during and after the bombing, the Western media engaged in massive amounts of lying and omission in support of the assault. The most important examples are these:

    LIE #1
The anti-Gaddafi demonstrations in February 2011 were peaceful. (This paints a picture of “good” demonstrators versus “evil” Gaddafi).

    FACT
The demonstrations, which were primarily based in Benghazi, were part of the MI6-sponsored armed coup. Press reports revealed that MI6 agents had been training the opposition since late 2010.13 Added to which, the UK Elite Forces acknowledged supplying the anti-Gaddafi rebels with weapons in the early phases of the uprising.14 AFRICOM Commander, General Carter Ham, noted on 4 March that “the government of Libya continued its more than two-week campaign of attacking demonstrators and rebel groups” (emphasis added).15 This was not clarified in media reports.

The Statoil, Talisman Energy, Shell-sponsored International Crisis Group (ICG) noted that the opposing Transitional National Council,

“was headquartered in the eastern city of Benghazi, a traditional base of anti-regime activity that provided army defectors a relatively secure area of operations.”

The ICG quoted one Libyan as saying that “a big misconception is that the Libyan uprising was organised in the east; in fact, the online protest calls originated from Libyans abroad, in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.”16

    http://www.mathaba.net/news/?x=630301

According to the Amnesty observer, who is fluent in Arabic, there is not one confirmed instance of rape by the pro-Gadaffi fighters, not even a doctor who knew of one. All the Viagra mass rape stories were fabrications.

Amnesty could not verify a single "African mercenary" fighting for Gaddafi story, and the highly charged international satellite television accounts of African mercenaries raping women that were used to panic much of the eastern Libyan population into fleeing their homes were fabrications.

There were no confirmed accounts of helicopter gun ships attacking civilians and no jet fighters bombing people which completely invalidates any justification for the No-Fly Zone inSecurity Council resolution used as an excuse for NATO to launch its attacks on Libya.

After three months on the ground in rebel controlled territory, the Amnesty investigator could only confirm 110 deaths in Benghazi which included Gadaffi supporters.
Only 110 dead in Benghazi? Wait a minute, we were told thousands had died there, ten thousand even. No, only 110 lost their lives including pro-government people.

No rapes, no African mercenaries, no helicopter gun ships or bombers, and "only" 110 deaths prior to the launch of the NATO bombing campaign, every reason was based on a lie.

He said he and other anti-Kadafi activists met with members of President Obama's security council several times to lobby for intervention, but he worried that others opposed to military action would drown them out.

"We even engaged many of them to say, 'Listen, back off, we need all this support,' " said Omeish, who grew up in Tripoli and immigrated to the U.S. when he was 15.

During the period 2008-2010, Saif el-Islam Kadhafi negotiated a truce between the Libyan Jamahiriya and the LIFG.

The best result was obtained in Mazar-i-Sharif, where more than 1,500 Afghans signed up for the jihad in Libya, Syria and Yemen [5]. Within weeks, Al-Qaeda evolved from a small dwindling group to a 10 000-man strong force. Such recruitment has been rendered even easier by the fact that jihadists are the cheapest mercenaries on the market.

On 17 February 2011, "National Libyan Opposition Conference" organized a "day of anger" in Benghazi, which sparked the beginning of the war.

On 23 February, Imam Abdelkarim al-Hasadi proclaimed the creation of an Islamic Emirate in Derna, the most fundamentalist city in Libya and home to the majority of jihadist who became suicide bombers in Iraq. Al-Hasadi is a long-standing member of the LIFG who was tortured by the United States at Guantanamo Bay [6].

In the summer of 1985 the "Washington Post" published on its front page a long article by Bob Woodward and Paul Bandwarfok which reported that the US State Department had taken extraordinary actions in the summer of 1985, including sending for the American ambassador to Egypt and putting him in charge of a covert operation. According to the article, an American-Egyptian military action directed from the White House, whose purpose was an Egyptian invasion of Libya and the occupation of one-half of Libya's territory with American assistance, was to be cancelled.
This plan had aimed at removing Qadhafi from power.

This operation was recommended by the following persons: Robert McFarlin, advisor for national security; his assistant, John Poindexter; a third man, Donald Foster.

This covert plan to overthrow the popular democratic system in Libya operated under the code name "Flower".

    3. First, it was right from the intended start of the national protests (that is, Feb. 17 -- although protests in fact began two days earlier) that several opposition spokesmen, anonymous "Libyan" Twitter accounts, and other persons who would become associated with the insurgents' "Transitional National Council" (TNC) produced the paradox of racial/racist hysteria and humanitarian intervention.

This was a double-barreled rhetoric: one barrel firing off accusations about foreign/black/African mercenaries engaged in "massacres" against Libyans, and the other barrel firing off demands for immediate Western intervention in the form of a no-fly zone -- the latter to help protect against the former.

The two went together -- that is not an adventurous conclusion, as the two came together.

Libyan rights group says NTC is responsible for killing of prominent Judge

The Libyan Observatory for Human Rights said the National Transitional Council was responsible for the killing of judge Jumah Hasan al-Jazwi in Benghazi.

Al-Jazwi was investigating last year's murder of a defected long-time aide to the dead dictator Gaddafi.

Mr. al-Jazwi was shot dead on Thursday, on his way to a mosque. He was investigating last year's murder of Gen Abdel Fattah Younes.

In a statement the Observatory said that the National Transitional Council (NTC), which is administering Libya's transitional governance, was deliberately delaying uncovering the circumstances around Gen Younes's killing, reported BBC on Friday.

-According to Khaled, more than 400 prisoners escaped Abu Salim in four separate break-outs prior to and after the incident:
in July 1995, December 1995, June 1996 and July 2001.
Among the escapees were men who then fought with Islamist militant groups in Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq, he said.

-The only other description of the incident comes from a report by the National Front for the Salvation of Libya, an opposition political group based outside Libya.

    - In total, 1,170 prisoners died, the report says, but it provides no names.

-A Libyan group based in Switzerland, Libyan Human Rights Solidarity, says that since 2001 the authorities have notified 112 families that a relative held in Abu Salim is dead, without providing the body or details on the cause of death.
In addition, 238 families claim they have lost contact with a relative who was a prisoner in Abu Salim.

“In Misrata and Zlitan between 15,000 and 17,000 were killed and Jebel Nafusa (the Western Mountains) took a lot of casualties. We liberated about 28,000 prisoners. We presume that all those missing are dead,”
    he said.

“Then there was Ajdabiyah, Brega. Many people were killed there too,” he said, referring to towns repeatedly fought over in eastern Libya.

The figures included those killed in the fighting between Gaddafi’s troops and his foes, and those who have gone missing over the past six months, he said.

January 1994 Libyan Exiles Debate Post-Qaddafi Era

    http://www.washington-report.com/component/content/article/152/7370-liby...

Nov. 28-29, 1994, Washington's Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) hosted a conference on "Post-Qaddafi Libya:
    The Prospect and The Promise."

The conference was unique in that all of the panelists were Libyan exiles who provided both personal and analytical insights into a country last visited by U.S. officials some 14 years ago....

The CSIS conference provided an opportunity ,for American policymakers, analysts arid journalists to see the variety of ideas and the depth of commitment exhibited by the Libyan opposition in exile.

Although the discussion was occasionally heated, panel participants and the Libyans in the audience never lost sight of their common goal.

In the words of Omar Fathaly, "If we manage to overthrow Qaddafi we have succeeded. Otherwise we are just standing still."

    ruling Libiya now :

-Ashur Shamis is one of the founding members of the National Front for the Salvation of Libya, which in 1981 was founded in Sudan. He has been wanted by Interpol and the Libyan police for years. [7] Ahsur is also listed as someone who has been a director in the National Endowment for Democracy in the Libyan Human and Political Development Forum.

He is also the editor of the Akhbar webpage, which was registered under Akhbar Cultural Limited and tied to the NED. He has also participated in recent key conferences for regime change in Tripoli. This includes the conference in London held by Chatham House in 2011, which discussed NATO plans for the invasion of Tripoli. [8]

-Like Ashur, Aly Abuzaakouk is also a member of the National Front for the Salvation of Libya and tied to the National Endowment for Democracy.
He was one of the key participants and attendees at the roundtable held for the 2011 Democracy Awards by the NED. [9] Like Ashur, he is also wanted by Interpol and serves as a director at the Libyan Human and Political Development Forum. [10]

-There is also Noman Benotman, a former leader and founder of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and a wanted terrorist.

He is presented as a former terrorist. Benotman conveniently left the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group in the wake of the attacks of September 11, 2001. Benotman is not only a National Endowment for Democracy (NED) director in the Libyan Human and Political Development Forum, he is also tied to the news network Al Jazeera.

Not only have these three men lived in Britain without any problems while they were wanted by Interpol and sought because of their ties to terrorism or, in the case of Abuzaakouk, drug-related crimes and forgery, but they also received grants from the United States.

They received U.S. grants which formalized their affiliation to various NED sponsored organizations, which have supported the regime change agenda in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.

This regime change agenda has also been supported by MI6 and the CIA.

    1990
On 7 December 1990 a US C 141-Nr-50280 aircraft stationed in Ramstein (FRG) landed at Njamina airport. The American ambassador to Chad was present. Two hundred Libyan hostages were transported against their will in this aircraft to Nigeria.
    - On 8 December 1990, 450 Libyan hostages were transported in the same way from Njamina airport to Zaire.
    - On 16 December 1991 the London-based Arab newspaper "Al-Hayat" reported that its correspondent had visited a CIA-run training camp in the state of Virginia for the Libyan hostages that the USA had kidnapped from Chad.

These troops had already received some training in Chad under the leadership of Colonel Robert Bag, the former American ambassador to Chad.

Bag had even planned to transport them to the USA and train them there for subsequent sabotage actions against the Jamahiriya.

A man calling himself "Khalifa Haftar" admitted this quite openly in an interview for "Al-Hayat" on 19 December 1991.

He added that the Americans had declared that they were fully prepared to offer every type of training for air and ground operations against the Jamahiriya.

    2. "Let us say, the objective is to invade Libya. An invasion by the USA or EU of a sovereign country, in order to install private banking and capitalism as well as policies conducive to the moneyed elite, would be held as illegal by any standard, and may face widespread opposition around the world if it is reported honestly as such...

"Therefore, think tanks are set up to come up with ideas, often behind closed doors, such as 'responsibility to protect', and then a false reality needs to be created to justify an intervention. In the case of Libya, one of these false realities, in other words, something that did not happen at all, would be the Libyan Air Force bombing protesters in Benghazi.

"That disinformation, outright lies, would then be used to cajole officials around the world, to go along with the overthrow of a system and installation of a puppet regime in Libya. But to do so requires the very process of money laundering that I will now describe.

"At first, some unknown and fake account, which anyone anywhere can set up on Twitter of Facebook, even an Israeli citizen in New York, is set up, or even dozens or hundreds of such false accounts. Each is replete with fake profile, stating location as Libya, and some fake avatar of a Libyan symbol.

"Then these accounts are set into motion by putting up urgent eye witness reports of the air force bombing Benghazi. It is not even required to create any proof, at most a fake photograph or one from another place and time, may be presented, but that is not even necessary.

"What occurs next, is that the middle level media networks engaged in information laundering, such as Qatar's al-Jazeera, or the Al-Arabiya network, will report those Tweets or Facebook status reports, and keep repeating them. At first they may mention unsubstantiated social media sources, but they may quickly move to reporting "eye witnesses report via social media".

"Then those engaged in the higher level of international information laundering, such as the BBC and CNN, will in turn report the bombing of Benghazi by the Libyan Air Force is being reported by Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, but without any mention that those initially quoted social media.

"Thus, the information now becomes 'credible' to the general gullible public, even if the small percentage of us would not trust the BBC or CNN with a barge pole, and take any information given by those networks with a barrel of salt, given the inside knowledge of how they work.

"If there is then a claim by someone prominent enough and proof that they broadcast outright lies, as in the case of the alleged bombing of Benghazi, exposed by Russia which disclosed for the first time to the world its military satellite images showing that the skies were clear and no Libyan aircraft were flying within thousands of miles of Benghazi, then they can claim innocence.

Instead they blame al-Jazeera or whatever other network for the report, whilst in actual fact they deliberately did not bother to check for the source, or already in fact knew it."

Actually, these saboteurs are presently conducting covert operations in the Cyrenica region, hence, the recent mysterious sudden freeing of some captured saboteurs by Dr Mahmoud Jibreel .

It needs to be added that some members of the Tomorrow's Libya organisation are currently mounting a media campaign through Arab satellite TV stations in support of the Interim National Council, portraying it as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people.

What the Libyans need to do now is to declare their support for the interim council and rally for its international recognition provided that it adheres to one fundamental criterion namely that it must not include any persons who have served in Gaddif's regime directly or indirectly for they are all collectively declared by the people as "persona non grata"

The Libyan people will never be fooled again. They will never tolerate any talk of accepting the current structure of the Interim National Council in the name of national unity and patriotism, for it is but national treason.

One of the strongest organizations helping to support this democratic movement is the Libya Freedom & Democracy Campaign (LFDC), an organization comprised of Libyans living across the globe, using the internet and telecommunication to support those within Libya by providing unfiltered information to those living in Libya and the rest of the world.

LFDC: Libya has closed the internet in Cyrenaica but it’s still functioning in Tripolitania due to the need for use by state organs and others. Heavy traffic on telecommunication lines makes it very hard to get through but that is not the only means of communications, Libyans have improvised other ingenious ways.

LFDC They have hired mercenary army and foreign warriors from African countries, North Korea, Tunis and Egypt. The airplanes that brought them were chartered Novel air from Tunis as reported from reliable sources.

Many seniors in the government and army officers are very upset and against the regime. Most of them have switched sides. Mercenaries are clearly shooting at the head, neck and chest which means bluntly they want to kill the protesters. And these protesters are peaceful and unarmed.

LFDC: Radical Islam has no place in the Arab world, especially in North Africa. Not Tunisia, Egypt or Libya. Libyans by nature have no kneeling towards radical Islam, Wahabbi Saudi version. Majority of Libyans aspire to a very romantic, softer version of Islam called Sufism.

    7. Libyans will not accept a plan to let Colonel Muammar Gaddafi give up power but remain in the country, William Hague was told today.

The Foreign Secretary was told that allowing the dictator to go into internal exile could lead to another civil war.

26 July 2011 But Soliman Albrassi, of the Libyan Youth for Reform group, said Col Gaddafi and his family should be captured and put on trial.

He said: "I am 100 per cent certain this will not be accepted by the Libyan people, because keeping Gaddafi in the country - even in a tent in the desert - will create more problems for us, will be the cause of civil war in the future.

"Gaddafi runs the country as a mafia headmaster and he will not accept staying away from politics, he will not accept to be away from power."

Britain had previously insisted that Gaddafi should leave Libya, where a rebel assault on his regime is locked in stalemate.

Suggestions that the dictator could remain raise doubts that he will ever face justice at the International Criminal Court, which has issued an arrest warrant for him.

But the idea has been gaining support as attempts are made to break the deadlock. Former foreign secretary Malcolm Rifkind said it was an "imperfect" solution but "might be the best available under the circumstances".

"The important thing is to try to avoid a bloodbath in Tripoli which is what will happen over the next few weeks or possibly months," he told BBC Radio.

Mr. Mohamed Adnan ElGherwi was a key player during the revolution. He initiated his revolutionary activity through the use of social media as soon as the Arabic spring for democratic change took place in Tunis & Egypt.
He offered his support to Libyan refugees in Tunis and in Tripoli by providing support during the blockade of Tripoli through the provision of logistical support, materials and supplies.

    10. Planning began in April, two months into the uprising.
Rebel leader Mahmoud Jibril and three other senior insurgents met in the Tunisian city of Djerba, according to both Mlegta and another senior official from the National Transitional Council (NTC), as the alternative rebel government calls itself.

The three were Mlegta, who by then had fled Tripoli and joined the rebels as the head of a brigade; Ahmed Mustafa al-Majbary, who was head of logistics and supplies; and Othman Abdel-Jalil, a scientist who became coordinator of the Tripoli plan.

According to Mlegta and to Hisham Buhagiar, a rebel colonel and the committee's seventh member, the group initially drew up a list of 120 sites for NATO to target in the days leading up to their attack.

The Human Rights Society, headed by Giuma Atiga, a lawyer and former political prisoner, has become a strong voice for human rights protection and promotion in the country.

For years Human Rights Watch has been the leading source of information on  state repression in Libya, including political prisoners, torture,  disappearances, and the Abu Salim prison massacre.

  77. the deputy chief of mission and the charge d‘affairs to the Libyan embassy, Stevens :

The government had limited control of the east with its lack of social outlets or economic prospects, Stevens wrote. Young men in Derna had become dissatisfied with their government and the perceived U.S. support of it.

“Observations of the town ... strongly suggest that comments by senior (Libyan) officials to the effect that the east is under control are exaggerated,” he wrote.

Even in 2008 as he traveled through the city of Derna, a four-hour car ride east of Benghazi, Stevens saw the peril in leaving swaths of Libya beyond the rule of law and far from opportunity.

Islamic radicals had little problem recruiting suicide bombers in an area where 60 percent to 70 percent of the men lacked jobs and could not afford to marry. A local tipster only half-jokingly mentioned then that the “cumulative level of sexual frustration among Derna‘s young men was ‘a big problem,‘ ” Stevens wrote. His memo was released with other WikiLeaks documents and published online by The Telegraph newspaper in London.
