Also, they want the area secure around the NATO/US military base that will be permanent (and not subject to democratic review, at least not for a long time).

As for the whole country, infighting and division are fine as far as the western political elite is concerned. The weaker Libya is politically, the easier it is to get the country's natural resources at bargain-basement rates.

Relatively moral people, whether we favor or oppose Qaddafi, care about the economic, political, and social security of Libya. The elitist imperialists don't care about this at all. The western leaders have their individual political agendas (i.e., re-election) and they want their corporate backers satisfied—indeed, satiated—on resources of countries too weak to ward off a NATO attack.

By weakness, I include especially public-relations weakness. The PR of the Libyan government was far too weak in response to the elitist imperialists' regime-change propaganda.

Art BetheaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091580307813686433.post-23259557593558288612012-01-24T15:14:44.551-08:002012-01-24T15:14:44.551-08:00Ooohhh.... I've heard this whole time reports from Green sources of controlling Bani Walid, Benghazi, Tripoli, etc., vicious battles, jailbreaks, asassinations, etc... I can't follow, verify, et., have left that to the experts. But AFAIK this is the first time a mainstream news outlet, I noticed al Arabiya first, acknowledging loyalist/Government of Libya control over a supposedly liberated city. Now Russia Today and the Guardian. I'll have to have a closer look now, thanks.

I hope they're able to bring some cold-shower reality back to the situation, as opposed to just more bloodshed.Caustic Logichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03082923821952309709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091580307813686433.post-26728363050543089042012-01-23T22:36:17.105-08:002012-01-23T22:36:17.105-08:00RussiaToday article and videos hereRussiaToday article and videos herefelixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12363991252776819712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091580307813686433.post-6086962279462032922012-01-23T15:25:18.648-08:002012-01-23T15:25:18.648-08:00guys i got some news on Libya the Greensor loyalis...guys i got some news on Libya the Greensor loyalists seem to be going on the attack.
Fighters loyal to Muammar Gaddafi have seized back the town of Bani Walid and raised the late dictator's green flag, in a blow to Libya's struggling provisional government.

Reports said at least four people were killed during clashes between besieged forces loyal to the ruling National Transitional Council (NTC) and armed and well-organised supporters of Gaddafi. "They control the town now. They are roaming the town," one militia member was quoted as saying of the pro-Gaddafi fighters, according to Reuters.

Bani Walid, a former regime stronghold 110 miles south-east of Tripoli, was one of the last to succumb to pro-government forces after the capital fell in August. The latest clashes mark the most significant loyalist attack since Libya was officially "liberated" on 23 October. It appears further evidence of the NTC's weakness, incapacity and internal divisions ahead of supposed national elections later this year.

About 30 pro-government were reported to have been injured in exchanges of fire. Mahmud Warfelli, spokesman of Bani Walid local council, said 100-150 men armed with heavy weapons launched a carefully planned attack, swiftly overwhelming the town. Soldiers from the May 28 Brigade were pinned down in a compound and the attackers took up sniper positions in a mosque and a school, preventing the pro-government fighters from helping their wounded to safety.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/23/gaddafi-loyalists-bani-walid?newsfeed=truesam1noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091580307813686433.post-70353685246984961312012-01-23T15:22:17.118-08:002012-01-23T15:22:17.118-08:00@Edward:
